Lyra Presents The Cast Of SALTY
![]()
Salty follows a pen of cheeky penguins and a flock of zookeepers on a bittersweet journey to what might be the end of the world. Johnson's new play picks up years from now at one of the world's few remaining conservation zoos. Nature's on her way out and taking everybody with her. Exploring gender, sexuality, and parenthood-- this tragicomedy unearths the instinctual need to love in an otherwise destructive world. A fishy cocktail of delightful humor and devastation, Salty is an exhibit on life that peers through the glass with brave compassion.
Under the direction of Benita de Wit (Undrown'd Seeking Asylum, Connelly Theater; The Rape of the Sabine Woman, Ast. Director at The Playwrights Realm), the cast includes Kieran Mulcare (Jessica Jones, Blacklist), Terra Mackintosh (Grounded, Attention Theatre, HBO's Divorce), Sara Turner (The Wolves, Studio Theatre), Riley O'Toole (The Lion in Winter, Juno and the Paycock, Guthrie Theatre), Cassandra Nwokah (Miss Julie, 1001, Columbia University), Juan Arturo (CBS' Blue Bloods; The Rafa Play, The Flea Theatre), and Narea Kang (In Among the Young and the Healthy, La Mama).
Previously developed at the Tank Theatre in NYC and En Route Productions in Austin, TX. For more information please visit thesaltyplay.com.
