Catskill's Bridge Street Theatre is delighted to announce its 2017 line-up of plays - five magnificent, warmly human stories for audiences to savor between March and November. Scheduled for BST's second Mainstage Subscription Season are:

"Souvenir: A Fantasia on the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins" by Stephen Temperley. A wealthy socialite with a dubious sense of pitch teams up with an impoverished pianist and the two wind up the toast of Manhattan (though perhaps not for the reasons they might have wished). This hilarious and touching two-character musical features Alison Davy and Jay Kerr, directed by Flo Hayle. (March 16-26) "Souvenir" is a co-production with Fort Salem Theater, Salem, NY.

"The Official Adventures of Kieron and Jade" by Kieron Barry. World Premiere! A dazzling Chinese puzzle of a play, totally contemporary but written in the rapid-fire dialogue style of a 1930s screwball comedy, from the author of the enormously successful "Tomorrow in the Battle". Directed by John Sowle. (April 20-30)

"The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds" by Paul Zindel. A mother's bitterness colors the lives of her two high-school-aged daughters. Winner of the 1971 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Directed by Steven Patterson and starring BST favorite Roxanne Fay. (July 6-16)

"How to Pray" by Michelle Carter. Faith reluctantly agrees to act as a surrogate mother for her brother and his wife. Complications ensue. Winner of the 2010 Susan Glaspell Contest for "Best New Play" and the 2012 PEN USA Award for Drama. Directed by John Sowle. (September 14-24)

"Redwood Curtain" by Lanford Wilson. A young Vietnamese-American adoptee searches for the truth about her parentage among the homeless veterans living in the redwood forests of Northern California. Directed by John Sowle. (November 2-12)

All performances take place Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30pm, with Sunday matinees at 2:00pm, on the theatre's Mainstage, located at 44 West Bridge Street in the Village of Catskill, NY.

Advance tickets for individual shows are $22 ($10 for patrons 21 years of age and under) and tickets are also available for purchase at the door on a space available basis for $25 prior to each performance. But Bridge Street is offering a full five-show subscription package for adults for only $100 - like getting one show absolutely free.

"Metroland's James Yeara called Bridge Street Theatre 'Best Theatre Bang for the Buck' in his Round-Up of the Best of 2015. We definitely lived up to that accolade during our first subscription season in 2016. Our 2017 promises to be even more amazing," says John Sowle, Bridge Street Theatre's Artistic and Managing Director. "You won't want to miss any of these wonderful plays. Come on down and let us tell you a story you won't soon forget."

You can always find more information about everything coming up at Bridge Street Theatre, including the return of Tom Andersen's Cabaret series and the usual eclectic mix of imported theater, music, magic and more that audiences have come to expect from what one reviewer called "the ballsiest theater in the region," by visiting BridgeSt.org, by looking in on the Bridge Street Theatre page on Facebook, or by calling the theater at (518) 943-3818.

Events at Bridge Street Theatre are supported in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and by Public Funds from the Greene County Legislature through the Cultural Fund administered in Greene County by the Greene County Council on the Arts.
