Comedian Mary Dimino To Bring BIG DUMMY To Rahway This February

By:

Comedian Mary Dimino To Bring BIG DUMMY To Rahway This February ImageUnion County Performing Arts Center is proud to present award-winning comedian Mary Dimino's one woman show BIG DUMMY.

"Mary Dimino is back by popular demand!" referring to her run at UCPAC in 2017 with her autobiographical hit off-Broadway show SCARED SKINNY. The Hamilton Stage is looking forward to "another fantastic night with Mary" that involves "her own uplifting brand of poignant comedy, the kind that is hers and hers alone; the kind that will have you laughing and crying at the same time for different reasons," as stated by Broadway producer Ruben Brache.

Mary Dimino is a familiar face on TV and a regular on the comedy scene. Dimino is the recipient of the MAC Award for Outstanding Female Comedian, as well as the Gracie Allen Award. The latter celebrates those who contribute to portraying women realistically in the media. She has appeared on VH1, Comedy Central, AMC (doing interstitial stand-up), Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Late Show with David Letterman, The Chris Rock Show, NBC's Today, and The Graham Norton Effect (as the studio warm-up act), as well as in countless commercials and various television shows and films.

The daughter of a poor factory-worker father whose job was to put the crunchies in Carvel Ice Cream cakes, Mary idolized her dad until one day she realized he is "not like everybody else." She later realizes dad is brilliant, as is. Mary's journey from college student to couch potato to glorified assistant clothing shop manager, and finally successful comedienne is chronicled in this hilarious and moving story inspired by her "big dummy" dad, whose endearing simplicity she finally interpreted to be a cross between Forest Gump and Aristotle. She chronicles the touching and hilarious journey behind both her and her father's amazing fulfillment of their destinies.

BIG DUMMY is directed by Christine Renee Miller. Miller has directed other premiere award-winning works by Mary Dimino (SCARED SKINNY, FringeNYC Best Solo Show Award), Michelle Glick's Asian Belle (Midtown International Theater Festival Audience Award), among others.

Tickets for BIG DUMMY are $20 or $30, assigned seating with the $30 VIP price including prime seating, backstage tour, talk back and Q&A with Mary Dimino.
