Caramoor 3rd Annual Fall Festival Kicks Off With NY Philharmonic 9/23

By:

Michael Barrett, CEO and General Director of Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, presents the third annual Caramoor Fall Festival on September 23, 24 and 25. The three-day event opens with Alan Gilbert and The New York Philharmonic featuring violin virtuoso Augustin Hadelich, continues with a solo concert by Broadway sensation Kelli O'Hara, and closes with "The Future is Now", a program showcasing young musicians from Caramoor's mentoring programs.

After a highly-acclaimed Caramoor debut in 2009, The New York Philharmonic and Music Director Alan Gilbert return to the Venetian Theater on Friday, September 23 at 7:30pm, with young violin phenom Augustin Hadelich performing Mozart's last violin concerto. The program also includes Beethoven's heroic Symphony No.3 and Schubert's Overture to Rosamunde.

Saturday, September 24 offers an evening with three-time Tony Award-nominee Kelli O'Hara, making her Caramoor debut at 8:00pm in the Venetian Theater. Concertgoers will experience the magic that has led critics to call O'Hara "Broadway's golden girl and luminous star" in a vibrant program of favorites from the world of musical theater and songs from her latest album Always, such as "He Loves Me", "This Nearly Was Mine" and "Finishing the Hat".

"The Future is Now", the finale to Caramoor's Fall Festival, is a showcase of young musicians from Caramoor's mentoring programs - the Evnin Rising Stars; Bel Canto Young Artists; Vocal Rising Stars; and the Linden String Quartet, Caramoor's 2011-12 Ernst Stiefel String-Quartet-in-Residence - designed to highlight the sense of collaboration and exploration inherent in the mentoring process. This year's program, which showcases both vocalists and instrumentalists in the Rosen House Music Room on Sunday, September 25 at 4:00pm, features music that blossomed from the creative relationships shared by Robert and Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms.
