Bridge Street Theatre Presents a Reading of QUIET ELECTRICITY, a New Play by Michael Raver

Bridge Street Theatre in Catskill, NY will present a reading of QUIET ELECTRICITY, a new play by Michael Raver, at their Speakeasy space on Saturday, September 13 at 7:00pm.

Six months after tragedy has struck them, Ben and Dana Silver, a once happily married couple, now have little to say to one another. When the electricity in their Hoboken apartment building is shut off for five days for rewiring, they end up spending their nights together in the dark. A simple game of confessions unearths truths and hidden feelings, leading Ben and Dana to epiphanies about love, sex and marriage. Loosely inspired by the short story "A Temporary Matter" by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jhumpa Lahiri, the play will feature James Lloyd Reynolds and Eleanor Handley in the cast with the playwright himself directing.

Michael Raver is an actor and playwright. He's performed classical theatrical roles at Lincoln Center, The Pearl Theatre Company and Tony Randall's National Actor's Theatre, as well as regional theaters across the country. His plays have been presented and workshopped by Pace University, New Company Theatre, Sonnet Repertory Theatre, Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, The Pearl Theatre Company and TheatreLab. His latest play is called VESPERTINE.

James Lloyd Reynolds' New York credits include the premieres of ON THE MOUNTAIN at Playwrights Horizons, MICKEY MOUSE IS DEAD at 59E59th, and BEAUTIFUL PROVENCE at New York Theatre Workshop. Regional credits include Engeman Theater, Gateway Theater, Yale Rep, Weston Playhouse, Goodspeed Opera, Syracuse Stage, Berkshire Theater Festival, Florida Stage, Hangar Theatre, New Repertory Theatre, Pittsburgh City Theatre, and Hudson Valley Shakespeare. Film and Television include "Deception", "Person of Interest", "White Collar", "In Treatment", "Law and Order SVU", and "The Good Shepherd". He is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama.

Since graduating with an MFA from The New School for Drama, Eleanor Handley has performed extensively with both the Hudson Valley and Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festivals. Favorite roles include Maggie in CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, Beatrice in MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, Cressida in TROILUS AND CRESSIDA, and Regan in KING LEAR. Last fall she performed off-Broadway in the NYC premiere of JERICHO (NY Times Critic's Pick). Television appearances include "As The World Turns" (CBS), "Royal Pains" (USA) and an upcoming appearance on "Unforgettable" (CBS).

Bridge Street Theatre is a new performance space just 2 hours north of Manhattan in the Village of Catskill, NY. John Sowle and Steven Patterson of the acclaimed theater troupe Kaliyuga Arts (kaliyuga.com) purchased an old warehouse building near downtown Catskill in November of 2013 and are in the process of converting it into a year-round performing arts complex. They completed conversion the "Speakeasy" (cum Lobby) in the new space this past spring and have been presenting intimate theatre and cabaret performances there since May of 2014.
