Beacon Performing Arts Center to Present ELF, THE MUSICAL This Weekend

The Beacon Performing Arts Center (BPAC) will be performing their first main stage production of Elf, The Musical this weekend, starring youth from the Hudson Valley.

The production is directed by Jake Vander Linden, from the Broadway National Tour of Ghost, along with music direction by Kate Vander Linden and choreography by Tim Grady, both from the First National Broadway Tour of Elf, The Musical.

"This production means so much to us. We are taking our experience from the tour and bringing it to the Hudson Valley for a show that is not to missed," Grady said.

The modern Christmas classic is based off of the Will Ferrell film and adapted to the stage version in 2012. The BPAC production's staging and choreography has been inspired by the national touring production.

"We run our rehearsals with the same procedures from the tour so that the kids can experience a glimpse into what a professional Broadway tour rehearsal requires, from actors who went through the process. We create a safe, fun and educational setting while teaching the professional side of the business."

The Beacon Performing Arts Center is a non-profit theater company producing four main stage productions each year, along with camps, productions and workshops throughout the semesters and summers. Elf, The Musical is the first major performance since Bringing Broadway To Beacon, their inaugural production, starring actors from the Broadway casts of Rock of Ages, On The Twentieth Century and children from the Beacon area.

BPAC's production of Elf, The Musical performs on Friday, December 8th at 7:00pm and Saturday, December 9th at 2:00pm and 7:00pm at the Beacon High School Theatre, located at 101 Matteawan Road, in Beacon, NY. Tickets are now available online at www.BeaconPerformingArtsCenter.com.
