Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing Arts

Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts is a day camp for the creative and performing arts on a 140-acre wooded campus in Wheatley Heights on Long Island, serving students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Programs include the Classic and Discovery tracks in four- and eight-week sessions, a one-week Recreational Camp, and a Leadership Program. The Theater department offers major classes in children's theater and musical theater plus minors in improvisation and singing for actors; experienced students may audition for the eight-week Usdan Troupe, which stages a full musical in the 900-seat McKinley Amphitheater. Recent productions include Frozen, Titanic, Aladdin, Les Miserables, Cinderella, Matilda, and Cats. Classes take place in open-air studios and on three stages. Busing from central pickup points across Long Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens is included in tuition, and scholarships and tuition assistance are available.

Theater major classes include Performance: Children's Theater (grades 2-3, 4-week A or B), Performance: Musical Theater (grades 4-12, 4-week A or B), and Performance: The Usdan Troupe (8-week, audition required). Minor classes include Improvisation & Theater Games and The Actor Sings (grades 4-12). Tuition includes busing via central pickup, art materials, scripts and sheet music, and a daily ice cream treat; door-to-door busing and aftercare are available for additional fees.
