Seacamp

Seacamp is a nonprofit marine science camp and education center on Big Pine Key in the Florida Keys, founded in 1966 and described as the longest-running marine science camp in the country. It offers one- and two-week residential sessions plus weekly day camp, serving campers roughly ages 10 to 17. Programming pairs marine research and exploration through snorkeling and SCUBA with traditional camp activities such as sailing, windsurfing, lifesaving, photography, arts and crafts, and campcraft. Courses are taught by academically trained marine science instructors, biologists, geologists and oceanographers. The organization has been family-led since its founding by Irene Hooper. Its school-year arm, the Newfound Harbor Marine Institute, has provided field-trip marine science programs since 1970 for students from fourth grade through college. The camp is ACA accredited.

Two-week sessions are for ages 12-17; one-week sessions for ages 10-17 and do not include SCUBA. Day camp for ages 10-13 runs Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. Additional fees apply for SCUBA, lifeguarding and transportation; payment plans and camperships are available.
