TTC to Offer Cabaret Workshop at Arthouse in Jersey City, 9/22

The Theater Company of Hoboken (TTC) isn't just a company that produces shows; it is also a company that prides itself on fostering new talent and help performers bolster their abilities. Because of this belief in showcasing talent, TTC is offering a Cabaret Workshops for performers of all ages on Saturday, September 22th at Arthouse Productions. The workshop will begin at 1 PM, followed by a performance that evening at 8.

"Part of our mission is to combine professionals, community members, students and children in productions so everyone can learn from each other and benefit from each other's experiences,'" notes Producing Artistic Director David Zimmerman." "And that's why we feel providing a workshop like this is so important," adds Assistant Artistic Director Margaret Leone, "so we can teach what we know to the novice performer and help them get noticed." Both Zimmerman and Leone are the instructors of this workshop, and have amassed over 35 years ofexperience in cabaret performance.

The goal of the workshop is to teach performers how to present a song for any singing event and deliver their best performance. Emphasis is placed on phrasing, vocal style, stage presence, song selection and interpretation, while focusing on the emotions built into lyrics to
help the singer put their "personal stamp" on the song. Having participated in the workshop, attendees are then given the stage for a one night only performance to show what they have learned and get immediate feedback from a live audience. This is the fourth season TTC
has offered such a workshop, always to much acclaim from performers and audiences alike.
