RAISE THE ROOF to Benefit Coney Island USA, 4/7

Legs Malone has announced "RAISE THE ROOF!", a benefit for Coney Island USA's urgently required theater and building repairs. With an ensemble of burlesque and sideshow performers, this benefit will help support the CIUSA. The benefit will take place on Saturday, April 7th at 9pm at Sideshows by the Seashore, 1208 Surf Avenue in Coney Island and admission is $20.

"Emergency repairs to the famed Coney Island attraction are necessary to prevent the building's 2nd floor from collapsing on an awestruck audience distracted by fire eaters, sword swallowers, snake charmers and self-inflicted freaks entertaining the masses at the World's Playground" said CIUSA.

Due to a wood-eating beetle invasion, a large portion of Coney Island USA's recently landmarked 1917 building has been severely compromised. The beetles have moved on, but the damage left in their wake requires emergency reconstruction. Structural engineers were able to put essential structural supports into place to ensure a safe summer season, but the rising costs of repairs has wiped out CIUSA's budget.

The benefit features raucous good fun with Fisherman's Xylophonic Orchestra and a fabulous cavalcade of performers including Anita Cookie, BB Heart, Bastard Keith, Cherry Delight, Donny Vomit, Dr. Lucky, Go-Goat Boy (aka James Habacker), Jonny Porkpie, La Maia, Legs Malone, Little Brooklyn, Maddy Mann, Madame Rosebud, Miz Margo, Rosie 151, Sizzle Dizzle, Velocity Chyaldd and more! Raffle prizes include books from Molly Crabapple, pasties and other burlesque accessories, over $250 worth of NYC burlesque show tickets and show memorabilia from this year and years past.

With this lineup, Legs intends to bring heightened awareness and much needed funds to CIUSA's operating budget to ensure a well-funded 2012 season. In her own words, "Coney Island USA gives us authentically excellent and mind-blowing entertainment throughout the summer season, both with Sideshows by the Seashore, the Coney Island USA museum and my favorite, Burlesque at the Beach! It's time for us to give back so that we can have a magnificent theater and a well-supported Coney Island USA for many years to come!"
