Photo Coverage: Christine Andreas Brings Cafe Society to Feinstein's/54 Below
Broadway mainstay Christine Andreas showcased her impeccable vocal abilities in her new show Cafe Society last night and Broadwayworld was there. In an evening evoking the glamour and 'swelligance' of an era gone by, appropriate to the gorgeous surroundings of Feinstein's/54 Below, she brought to mind the swinging energy of Ella Fitzgerald and the cool melancholy of June Christy, as well as the show stopping style of Barbra Streisand. Andreas's talent is as intimate as it is epic, the type of voice that reminds one why these songs were written in the first place.
Christine Andreas made her Broadway debut in the 1974 revue Words & Music and received Tony nominations for her work in the revivals of Oklahoma! and On Your Toes. Her other Broadway appearances include roles in The Scarlet Pimpernel as well as the revivals of Angel Street and My Fair Lady. Her solo recordings include The Carlyle Set, Love Is Good (Fynsworth Alley) and Here's to the Ladies (PS Classics).
Christine Andreas in Café Society plays Feinstein's/54 Below (254 West 54th Street) February 26th & 27th and March 4th & 5th at 7:00pm. There is a $50 - $100 cover charge and $25 food and beverage minimum. Tickets and information are available at http://54below.com/artist/christine-andreas/.
