Naked Girls Reading NYC Presents LOVE STINKS 2/17

By:

As the old saying goes, '"Tis better to have loved and lost your clothes, than never to have loved at all." On Thursday, February 17th NAKED GIRLS READING NYC - New York's "Best Story Hour" (The Village Voice Best of NY 2010) - presents LOVE STINKS, an all-new evening of in-the-buff readings of some of literature's greatest heartbreaks, in the decadent boudoir setting of Greenwich Village's Madame X lounge.

Nasty Canasta is joined by burlesque superstars Bunny Love and Peekaboo Pointe plus The Naked Librarian, Barbara Gordon (yes, she's an actual librarian!), as the Naked Girls tackle Valentines' Day fallout in the best way possible: with gorgeous naked women reading from some of the best stories of failed romance ever written. Featured pieces will include selections from Huffington Post bad boy AnDrew Shaffer's latest book, Philosophers Who Failed At Love; anti-love poetry by William Shakespeare and Elizabeth Barrett Browning; breakup letters collected by the Naked Girls themselves; and more.

Guests to the salon are invited to relax in the plush velvet upstairs lounge at Madame X and sip a drink (sample the Grudge F*ck, a cocktail specially created to compliment the poetry of heartache) as Nasty, Bunny, Peekaboo and Barbara celebrate the literature of lost love. $25 reserved seating is limited to 40 (and includes one drink from Madame X's 'Foreplay' menu), with a small number of standing room tickets available at $15 - or bring a friend (or enemy) with the "Misery Loves Company" package: reserved seating and cocktails for two, for only $40! Purchase tickets in advance at www.NakedGirlsReadingNYC.blogspot.com and revel in the wretchedness as NAKED GIRLS READING NYC presents LOVE STINKS, at Madame X on Thursday February 17th at 8:00pm.

Naked Girls Reading began in Chicago in March 2009 as the creation of international showgirl Michelle L'Amour and Franky Vivid. The idea had rolled around in their heads for a few years in different formats, but with the opening of Studio L'Amour in 2008 it materialized as the perfect intimate live event. Naked Girls Reading now has branches across the country and around the world; the New York chapter, produced by Nasty Canasta of Sweet & Nasty Burlesque, was opened in October 2009 to great acclaim ("Great literature stripped bare" -Entertainment Weekly; "It was a remarkable experience." -Tor.com) and was named "New York's Best Story Hour" by the Village Voice in 2010.

• "Naked Girls Reading has clearly evolved into something more than just titillation. It is titillating, but after the first thrill of the initial disrobing, the pleasure of seeing beautiful women undressed fades besides the sense of intimacy achieved from someone bearing both their body and their soul at the same time." -Tor.com
