t's a New Year's tradition that doesn't get old. For the fourth year in-a-row Marilyn Maye rings out 2014 with back-to-back shows on New Year's Eve. Then after New Year's Eve, the merry-making continues for seven nights between January 2 and 10, as Maye launches into a run of her hard-partying "By Request" shows. Joining the preternaturally young Maye on her 15th Metropolitan Room engagement are her nimble trio consisting of pianist/conductor Billy Stritch, bassist Tom Hubbard, and drummer Ray Marchica.

With showtimes at 7:30pm and 10pm on Wednesday December 31, Marilyn hosts "The Biggest Party EVER." (Music charges are $100 per person for the early show, and $200 per person, open bar-inclusive, for the late show.) The "By Request" shows have a hard-to-resist music charge of only $35 per person.

"Marilyn by Request" plays Fri to Sun January 2, 3 and 4; and Wed to Sun January 7, 8, 9, 10. All shows are at 7pm.

Maye is in the midst of one of the most exciting chapters of a storied career. A nightclub mainstay, RCA recording artist and musical theatre actress in the '60s, '70s, and '80s, the "Best New Artist" Grammy nominee (1965) returned to New York in October 2006 after a 15-year absence. At the invitation of the late Donald Smith her epochal Cabaret Convention appearance segued into an unbroken string of sold-out runs at the Metropolitan Room through 2010. It is here that Maye built a new following, introducing an entirely new generation to the fun-loving performance style that once was the hallmark of large rooms and nightclubs across the country.

Last year Stephen Holden observed, "Ms. Maye has the remarkable ability to transform upbeat sloganeering into rousing affirmation, infused with such certainty and sense of purpose that she can penetrate the armor and melt the heart of the most hardened cynics".
