CARRIE RODRIGUEZ -LOVE AND CIRCUMSTANCE CD RELEASE
Tuesday, April 13 7:00 PM
Over the years, as part of a duo (with Chip Taylor), a side-woman (with Alejandro Escovedo), and solo artist, Carrie Rodriguez has dazzled critics and audiences alike with her prowess as a musician. And once again, Carrie delivers on her Ninth Street Opus debut, Love & Circumstance (due April 13, 2010), embracing twelve songs that have inspired, and influenced her life and music.

Carrie wraps herself around songs from influences and peers such as John Hiatt/Nick Lowe/Ry Cooder/Jim Keltner (aka Little Village), Buddy Miller & Julie Miller, David Rodriguez, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, Richard Thompson, Townes Van Zandt, M. Ward, Merle Haggard & Bonnie Owens, Hank Williams, Lucinda Williams, and others. She even pays homage to her family heritage with the soulful Spanish ballad ""La Puñalada Trapera," popularized in the 1950s by her great-aunt, famed Mexican bolero balladeer Eva Garza.

Flattered by the notion, singer-songwriter Richard Thompson explains, "It is always a thrill to write a song and have someone else take it to unexpected places." David Rodriguez affirms the sentiment, "Your song is like your child. Nothing is more pleasing to its composer than to see it, like this one here - warmly nestled in a place called ‘home'." $15

A modern pop album spoken in a jazz language and very much in the tradition of the American Songbook. Backed by The Westside Trio ( Marc Puricelli, piano; Chris Hughes, drums; John Loehrke, bass) a world class jazz unit, makes for one unforgettable evening. $15

THE RAMBLERS: CD RELEASE

Wednesday, April 14 at 9:30 PM

"The Ramblers sound like an '80s update on Creedence, and their first album led to a support slot with Levon Helm." - Time Out New York

"As smooth and palatable as the finest Tennessee sippin' whiskey...their very own distinguishable brand of soul music fused with the sweetest elements of Americana.... The band's strength lays in a gritty, feel-good roots sound that can't fail but to stir the soul and warm the blood. The Ramblers flourish in a live environment, feeding off of the raw, muddy atmosphere and delivering the type of un-shackled music that has stood the test of time. In our current climate, who couldn't use the pick me up!?" - Joel Crane, Rebel Spirit Music

"I caught The Ramblers' performance two weeks ago at Joe's Pub where they featured songs off their debut release as well as some new numbers. The captivating four-piece wowed all in the venue with their versatility as many around me could be seen dancing in their seats...The way the band segued from heavier rock 'n' roll to soul, country and folk was impressive. One moment the listener felt he was in a small, New Orleans jazz club and the next, Nashville at a dirt-filled honky tonk - no small feat for a band...The Ramblers had much to offer their audience. Whatever music you favor, The Ramblers are sure to please one of your desires." Annie Reuter, NY Examiner $12

"One of the World Music Albums to Watch for 2010"- National Geographic

"Undersea Poem is ethereal and calming and occasionally surprising - a kind of slow motion, Esquivel-laced experience that places you somewhere just south of the equator."- Limewire Blog
