Joe's Pub at The Public Theater debuted in October 1998 and has quickly became one of New York City's most celebrated and in-demand showcase venues for live music and performance. The Sabrina Lastman Quartet (SLQ) is an innovative music project that brings together jazz, South American rhythms and contemporary music. The SLQ reflects the many influences that Sabrina has experienced while living in her home country Uruguay, in Israel, and the USA. The Quartet plays original compositions, & arrangements of music by Latin American composers like Ruben Rada and Egberto Gismonti, being some of her compositions inspired by the poetry of renowned South American writers. She brings those experiences - so far away from each other - to an artistic unity, showing that cultural bridges can be built. As a vocalist, Sabrina expands the possibilities of the voice, finding a rich variety of sonorities, colors, and textures. She sings in Spanish, English and Portuguese, keeping in each language a deep meaning of text & voice quality.

SELLOANE: CD RELEASE

Selloane is an emerging artist that has combined her roots and experiences around the world to create her own soulful lyric interpretation. Born in Welkom, South Africa, Selloane began singing in church at the age of three. The voice of this child would soon be awarded the best soloist of the year at the Shell Road to Fame in South Africa. This major achievement granted Selloane her first recording contract with Gallo Music Group South Africa. She released Thel'u Moya with Gallo, and it is still considered one of the best gospel cd's released in South Africa to date. Selloane was also featured on Joyous Celebration 2 and 8 (Sony Music) as a guest artist. Joyous Celebration as well as Thel'u Moya has allowed Selloane to perform and reach people in over fifteen countries. Selloane has been fortunate enough to work with great producers like Robert Sibony, Hugh Masekela, Jonathan Butler, David Moloele, Mthunzi, Namba, Manasse Letsoara, and Lindelani Mkhize of Joyous Celebration. Selloane crossed the continent to Los Angeles to perform in Disney's The Lion at the historic Pantages Theater. Her Lion King experience did not stop there. She has been in the Toronto, London, US Tour, and now a cast member of Disney's The Lion King on Broadway. Selloane has appeared on Jay Leno, The Today Show, The View, and the 2008 Tony Awards. She also was a featured artist at the 2008 Lunas Awards in Mexico City and has performed at The White House for President and Mrs. Bush honoring Ghana's President John Kufuor and Mrs. Theresa Kufuor. Selloane songwriting skills evoke passion and individuality. She writes with simplicity and honesty that leaves you deeply touched and breathless. She was featured at the 21st annual Easter Bonnet for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids with a song she wrote Thari e Ntsho, a definite highlight of the event which raised over $3.3 million dollars for the cause. Seattle-bred and Brooklyn-based instrumentalist Jessica Lurie brings her individual sound to diverse types of music while preserving their stylistic authenticity. Supported by a band that includes keyboards, guitar, acoustic bass, drums with a bit of banjo and "tape recorder" thrown in, the music is often "jazz" for lack of a better description. Lurie liberally mixes in folk, rock, avant garde, Eastern European and New Orleans stylings. It makes for a coherent, compelling and expansive sound, held together by an adventurous attitude that serves as the catalyst for music that's loose but never pointless. With ORZ's bizarre sounds and instruments, including theremin, claviola, accordion, and stylophone, as well as guest performances by Hamilton Berry (Vampire Weekend), Mark Feldman (Masada), and Rick Moody (Wingdale Community Singers), the album continues to embrace the band's "gypsy-klezmer circus-flea-cartoon," "lit-rock" sound, while drawing inspiration from 1970's progressive rock, with nods to Stravinsky, Mahler, and of course, Gustav Holst. $15

Buddy Cannon
As a producer of chart-topping hits by artists like Kenny Chesney, John Michael Montgomery, Joe Nichols and Reba McEntire, Buddy Cannon's talent in the studio continues to speak for itself. And it's no wonder he's a wizard behind the console, considering his many years of experience in all aspects of the business, from session background vocalist and bandmember, to master songwriter and publishing company executive. Cannon's knack for picking and Producing Artists and their hits has helped launch the careers of mega-stars like Shania Twain and Billy Ray Cyrus, and his songwriting prowess has provided numerous hit songs for everyone from Vern Gosdin and Mel Tillis to Alabama and George Strait.

Cannon first earned his musical stripes in the early 70's as the bass player in Grand Ole Opry star Bob Luman's band. His songwriting ability turned the head of CMA's 1976 Entertainer of the Year, Mel Tillis, who promptly hired Buddy to work in his band and with his publishing company. During their eleven-year association, Tillis recorded several of Cannon's songs, including the popular "I Believe In You," which went to the top of the charts and was also recorded by Englebert Humperdink.

After the acquisition of Tillis' publishing interests by PolyGram, Cannon was hired by PolyGram's Mercury Records as Director of A&R for the company. During his six-year stint at Mercury, he was instrumental in bringing such stars as Twain, Cyrus and Sammy Kershaw to the label. Cannon produced several Number One hits for Kershaw during this period, including "She Don't Know She's Beautiful," "National Working Woman's Holiday," and "Cadillac Style", as well as several more Kershaw hits which reached the Top Five position on the charts. He was eventually recruited as VP/A&R for Polydor/Nashville but, not long after, elected to leave that position in 1995 to pursue independent production projects.

Along with his work with Sammy Kershaw, George Jones ("High Tech Redneck"), John Michael Montgomery ("The Little Girl"), Chely Wright ("Single White Female"), and Kenny Chesney ("Young", "A Lot Of Things Different", "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy", "There Goes My Life", "The Good Stuff"), Cannon has also produced projects for Jamey Johnson ("The Dollar") Sara Evans ("No Place That Far"), Joe Nichols ("Tequela Makes Her Clothes Fall Off") and Chad Brock ("Ordinary Life", "Yes").

His own impressive personal song catalog includes classic hits like Vern Gosdin's "Set 'Em Up Joe," "Dream Of Me", and "I'm Still Crazy," Billy Ray Cyrus' "She's Not Cryin' Anymore," and George Strait's "I've Come To Expect It From You," and, most recently, Strait's record breaking 53rd number one song "Give It Away" which was named Song Of The Year at the 2007 Academy Of Country Music Awards .
In the past few years Cannon has received, as producer, gold album awards for "Single White Female" (Chely Wright), "No Place That Far" (Sara Evans) "Brand New Me" (John Michael Montgomery), "Joe Nichols III (Joe Nichols) and "Room To Breathe" (Reba McEntire). He has received a Platinum award for Kenny Chesney's "Be As You Are (Songs From An Old Blue Chair") and "Kenny Chesney Live", Triple Platinum awards for Chesney's "Everywhere We Go", "The Road And The Radio", "Greatest Hits" and "When The Sun Goes Down", a Quaduple Platinum award for Chesney's "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem" and either gold, platinum or multiple platinum awards for every Chesney album which Cannon and Chesney have collaborated on.
Cannon and Chesney co-produced an album by Willie Nelson, "Moment Of Forever", which was released in January 2008.

Bob DiPiero
For the past 20 years, Bob DiPiero has helped define the best that is Music Row. A legendarily funny and compelling performer, he is one of a handful setting the bar for present-day songwriter/entertainers.
As a raconteur, he may have no equal among his peers, and as a musical ambassador and bridge-builder, he has helped make Nashville a port of call for legendary performers from all genres, writing with Neil Diamond, Carole King, Johnny Van Zant and Delbert McClinton, among many others.

He is one of Nashville's most consistent and prolific writers of hits, and he remains at the top of his profession more than two decades after hitting #1 on the charts for the first time in 1983. His long string of hits includes the Oak Ridge Boys' "American Made," Montgomery Gentry's "If You Ever Stop Loving Me," Vince Gill's "Worlds Apart," Shenandoah's "The Church On Cumberland Road," Ricochet's "Daddy's Money," George Strait "Blue Clear Sky," Brooks & Dunn's "You Can't Take the Honky Tonk Out Of the Girl," and Martina McBride's "There You Are."

Jamey Johnson
Making music comes as naturally to Jamey Johnson as breathing. He was raised outside Montgomery, Alabama in a family that was poor but highly musical. Like so many country musicians, Jamey first performed gospel music in churches with his father.
He was raised in a devout household, yet he spent part of his youth drinking beer and playing country songs at night on the Montgomery tombstone of Hank Williams. He has a backwoods upbringing, but is a formally trained musician who knew music theory as early as junior high school. He is deadly serious about his music, yet has an outrageous sense of humor. With his piercing pale-blue eyes and biker beard, he looks like a hell raiser, but he has the heart of a poet.
Since its release in August 2008, the accolades have been piling up for That Lonesome Song. Jamey Johnson has won both and ACM and CMA awards as well as performed for TV audiences on David Letterman and Jay Leno. Rolling Stone, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The Washington Post, Esquire, The Los Angeles Times and American Songwriter are just a few of the major publications that have sung his record's praises.

Kendell Marvel
Born and raised in Southern Illinois, Kendell started playing the guitar at the tender age of five. He spent the rest of his childhood playing and singing in local bars . Kendell moved his family to Nashville in the summer of 1998 to pursue a career in country music. The first song he wrote when he got to town was the top five hit "Right Where I Need To Be" for Gary Allan. He has been cranking out country music hits ever since, including numerous hits by Jake Owen, including "Startin With Me", "Yee Haw", and "Don't Think I Can't Love You". Other hits include "Tougher Than Nails" by Joe Diffie, and "Twang" by George Strait. He has also had cuts by Lee Ann Womack, Trace Adkins, Blake Shelton, Josh Turner, Jamey Johnson and many others.
