BERNIE WORRELL & SOCIALYBRIUM

Monday, December 26 at 9:30 PM; $20

"The sound of the band SociaLybrium is just exactly what I imagine it would sound like if keyboard funkmaster Bernie Worrell played all the instruments himself. I'm serious: graft a bunch more arms and legs on the man - with everything answering to that groovemonster brain - and this is what the result would be. Worrell's three bandmates in SociaLybrium - bassist Melvin Gibbs, drummer J.T. Lewis, and guitarist Ronny Drayton - are perfect formation flyers when it comes to brain-syncing with Worrell and their debut album "For You - For Us - For All" is proof. The individual parts of SociaLybrium add up to one big chunk of jazzy fusion funk and that's all you need to know" - Brian Robbins

LIZ QUELER & Seth Farber present THE EDNA PROJECT

Monday, December 27 at 7:30 PM; $14

The poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay set to music by Liz Queler and Seth Farber.

"Liz Queler and Seth Farber not only created marvelous songs using the lyric poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay, they then developed a performance style for them that illuminates the room and enlightens the audience. This isn't just another group doing just another bunch of tunes. What Queler and Farber denote from the mind of Millay is an emotional experience that sings to the very heart of human connections."-

Peter Bergman, Executive Director, Edna St. Vincent Millay Society. www.redwallrecords.com www.myspace.com/ednaproject

ALAN HAMPTON: CD RELEASE

Monday, January 3 at 9:30 PM; $12

Making the leap from sideman to solo artist, Alan Hampton's debut LP The Moving Sidewalk effortlessly showcases his tender, ashy voice shimmering over lush string trios, Dr. Who synthesizers and finger-picked acoustic guitars all performed by many of Brooklyn's finest musicians.

After performing around the world with artists including Gretchen Parlato, Sufjan Stevens, Clare and the Reasons, Robert Glasper and Elizabeth & the Catapult, Hampton announces solo NYC shows and national dates with Parlato to celebrate the release of The Moving Sidewalk.

"Alan Hampton is creating some of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. His songs take the listener on a journey through thoughtful lyrics and emotional harmonies. It's the perfect balance that extends where BrIan Wilson left off." - Jason Moran, MacArthur Fellow jazz pianist

"It has been a long while since I have heard a singer-songwriter that has completely knocked me out as Alan Hampton has. He's got it all - a great writer, singer, and all around top notch musician who is dedicated to serving the music in every moment with both grace and clarity".- Rebecca Martin

META AND THE CORNERSTONES

Tuesday, January 4 at 9:30 PM; $17

"Meta and the Cornerstones have been called the future of reggae. Frontman Meta Dia, a Senegalese transplant, sings in French and his native dialects Wolof and Fulani, but when he croons in English his voice bears an uncanny resemblance to one of his inspirations -- the great Bob Marley." - The Boombox

DEE DOZIER

Wednesday, January 5 at 9:30 PM; $14

"Dee Dozier's music draws on both the pain and the joys of her past, her voice, soothing and mysterious like a warm amber glow" - Christy Truitt East Alabama Living
" She's a firecracker. Walking down the city streets, guns ablaze. People stop and stare. Heart on her sleeve. She's a gambler. And when she tells you she's in love, or that's she's broken, you believe her. " - Jordan Whitley fifty100.com
"That's Dee Dozier. Open as a book. Funny as hell. " Jordan Whitley fifty100.com
" In her debut album, the cellos, strings and soulful voice on "All I Ask" struck a chord with the wounded here at Covers" - Jordan Whitley fifty100.com
"we talked about Dee's main love and focus, music, and why such a happy girl sings such sad songs. Really, we cry when we hear them. But we're sensitive guys." - wickedchopspoker.com

Dee Dozier is a New York based singer/songwriter with a love for gambling and having her heart broken. She draws on her relationships for inspiration and finds that writing a good song can cure any broken heart, temporarily.
