Pianist/singer/songwriter Diane Birch returns with a monthly residency to try some new music, revisit older work and have some fun. Birch marries darkness and light, pain and abandon on Speak A Little Louder (2013, S-Curve Records), her last album. A window into her complex journey into womanhood, the album documented with intense emotional honesty, indelible melodies and rousing hooks. Speak A Little Louder followed Birch's extraordinary 2009 debut, Bible Belt, which opened in the Billboard Top 100 and prompted comparisons to Laura Nyro and Karen Carpenter along with glowing reviews from The New York Times, NPR, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair and more.

"I want the band to mark a moment in time, to celebrate the being of something new..." says singer-songwriter Casey McPherson of Alpha Rev. Following the Triple A Radio success of New Morning (2010), the band's third album Bloom (2013) was a set of personally transformative and redemptive songs. "Casey and I met when we were really young, and have been playing music with each other off and on over the past 13 years," explains guitarist Zak Loy. Rooted in lyrical wisdom, the addition of drummer Tabber Millard is credited for the band's contemporary tribal rhythms. Jeff Bryant rounds out the band, playing pedal steel, piano, organ and bass.
Jared & The Mill are an indie folk rock band from Arizona - Jared Kolesar, Michael Carter, Larry Gast III, Chuck Morriss III, Josh Morin and Gabe Hall-Rodrigues. The group started out in the local scene, playing with friends when before they knew it, they were a touring band with two years of dive bars and opening gigs in arenas under their belts. The miles informed their music and molded their souls, solidifying their band bond. They write about life, about getting older, about family and friends, those sweet things and bitter things.

Ethan Lipton & His Orchestra is sepia-toned frontman Lipton and band mates Eben Levy (guitar), Ian Riggs (bass) and Vito Dieterle(sax). With melancholy wit and a cockeyed worldview, they deliver songs steeped in American traditions of yore (jazz, blues, country, lounge), but his subjects are thoroughly modern (Rahm Emanuel, oat groats, pets, dumplings). Popmatters calls Lipton, "A sardonic voice that offers an unlikely kind of comfort against the vagaries of everyday life." Coming off their highly successful tour of No Place To Go, which The New York Times hailed as "immensely appealing," ETHO are as tight a band as any you'll find. Their time together on the road has resulted in their most cohesive work to date, Raw Milk (May 2015).

(me llamo) Sebastián is a Chilean singer / piano based songwriter who originates as a fat, ugly, weird, nerdy, gay kid, and finds success by writing and singing about being fat, ugly, weird, nerdy, and gay. Today, he is still an outcast, but he is an outcast who has performed at the LAMC (NYC), Festival Siguiente Escena (Mexico City), MFest (Santiago, CL), Micsur (La Plata, Arg), among many other prestigious international stages. He released his most recent album La Belleza in July 2015, and was recently profiled by Remezcla, which described his work as "consistently challenging the squeaky clean, normalized image of the LGBTQ mainstream."

Tuelo & Her Cousins are a NYC-based band who share a kindred love for music that rocks the soul. Formed by singer/songwriter Tuelo Minah in 2013, the band continually play to packed houses at some of New York's most famed institutions including Rockwood, The Apollo Music Cafe, and Lincoln Center. Their unique take on rock and roll combines driving beats and catchy hooks with Tswana-Bushmen rhythms to tell dreamlike tales of struggle and triumph. Taking the stage at Joe's Pub for a four day run, Jane's show has evolved to include special guests like Kate Flannery of "The Office," who plays Jane's mischievous vocal partner, and Tim Davis, the talented former musical arranger on "Glee." Shrive Alive is led by Jon Shriver (guitar) and features Fred Cash (bass), Alex Nolan(guitar) and Greg Gonzalez (drums). Shriver is inspired by classic rock guitar greats, largely Jimi Hendrix, along with blues and be-bop musicians. He has spent valuable time in Mississippi with Fat Possum Records, working with greats like R.L Burnside and T-Model Ford. His talents span beyond the stage and into the studio where he has produced for Nas, and was featured on guitar in the Michael Mann/Will Smith movie "Ali". Shriver has also worked as an engineer with many Hip Hop and R&B legends including Mary J. Blige, Notorious B.I.G., Jodeci and Wu-Tang Clan.
Bullfighter is Karl Sturk (vocals, guitar), John Haenle (bass, back-up vocals) and Mike Ciardi (drums). Though they connected initially over a young love of hardcore punk, the trio put other influences like The White Stripes, The Band and Neil Young to work in their music - gritty, driving rock with an emotional, lyrical core. Bullfighter has a forthcoming EP, due out in late summer.

Humming House is a quintet that embodies modern day Nashville's blend of edgy, independent artistry with its legacies of folk, soul, and bluegrass. Formed out of informal Irish music jams and the songwriting of Justin Wade Tam, the five musicians have worked together on a sound that balances passion and energy with thoughtful arrangements. They've played major festivals and prestige music venues. They've released two studio albums and one live recording since 2011, the latest being Revelries.
Matt Sucich (pron: Sue.Sitch) spent 2014 writing, performing, and recording the follow up to his self-produced 2012 full-length 'Layers.' His band was also with him. So was his producer & engineer Paul Loren. They immediately released a single in the spring of 2014, 'The Lonely Dreamer.'

Legendary Brazilian pianist, composer and arranger Dom Salvador won the 2012 Brazilian Music Award with his last album The Art of Samba Jazz (Salmarsi Records). Featuring 11 of his original compositions, many of which they will perform at Joe's Pub, their album is a homage to the Pre and Bossa-Nova periods of Rio de Janeiro. Samba Jazz is a combination of American Jazz and Samba. It goes back to the 1920's when Brazilian composers such as Pixinguinha, influenced by the New Orleans rhythms Dixieland and Fox Trot, was the first Brazilian composer to improvise. The 1940's brought more sophisticated melodies and the music was being orchestrated for bigger bands to perform in dance halls for Rio's growing middle class. It was the birth of Gafieira, a festive ballroom style dance music very popular in the 50's.
