Crazy Coqs Announce October Schedule, Including Steven Brinberg & KT Sullivan

The Crazy Coqs October schedule begins with Steven Brinberg, who returns following his sell-out show earlier this year with Simply Barbra (October 1- 5), followed by Les Miserables actress and singer Frances Ruffelle and her show Paris Original (October 8 - 12). New York singer-pianist Billy Stritch performs his show I've Got Your Number - The Jazz of Cy Coleman (October 15- 19). As part of the London Festival of Cabaret, Karen Kohler and KT Sullivan will duet together in their show Vienna to Weimar (October 22- 26) followed by KT Sullivan with Rhyme, Women and Song (October 29 - November 2).

Due to phenomenal demand, Steven Brinberg returns to Crazy Coqs to celebrate the 15th anniversary of his record-breaking London debut with his Simply Barbra Greatest Hits Show. Nathan Martin will accompany Steven on piano.

Steven has been acclaimed for his vocal performance of Barbra Streisand for over a decade around the world. In addition to touring all over America, he has also played extensively in England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, Spain, Mexico and Canada...more cities then the real Barbra!

He has also appeared in numerous symphony concerts with the late Marvin Hamlisch and sang at Stephen Sondheim's birthday concert at the Library of Congress in Washington DC. Tony Award winning Frances Ruffelle, is not only well known for creating the role of the iconic waif Eponine in the original stage show of Les Miserables, but also for her outrageously playful cabaret appearances in Europe and the U.S.

The premier of her new show Paris Original at the Crazy Coqs explores the glamour and romance of the city of light, celebrating all things 'ooh la la' with the music of France's most celebrated chanteuses from Françoise Hardy, to Edith Piaf and much more.

Frances's recent work includes playing the title role in Pam Gems play 'Piaf' at the Curve Theatre Leicester and she will be returning to New York with her 5 star show Beneath the Dress at 54 Below after selling out there earlier this year. Billy Stritch's new show celebrates the music of one of Broadway and pop music's greatest composers Cy Coleman and includes selections from many of his Broadway shows ("Little Me", "Sweet Charity", "City Of Angels") as well as great pop standards ("The Best Is Yet To Come", "It Amazes Me", "Witchcraft"). In his lengthy career, Cy Coleman wrote with some of the greatest lyricists of the 20th century, including Dorothy Fields, Carolyn Leigh and Camden and Green, and his songs have been recorded by virtually every great singer of the golden age of popular music, including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Judy Garland and Peggy Lee.

Billy Stritch is one of the premier singer-pianists on the New York and national jazz and cabaret scene and has performed in London many times both as a solo artist and as accompanist to Liza Minnelli. His most recent Broadway credit was as musical supervisor and pianist for Liza Minnelli's Tony Award winning show "Liza's At The Palace" for which he also reconceived the vocal arrangements of the legendary Kay Thompson and The Williams Brothers. In addition to his twenty-two year association with Liza, Billy also accompanies and arranges for Linda Lavin, Marilyn Maye, and Paulo Szot. On stage, he originated the role of Oscar the rehearsal pianist in the 2001 Broadway revival of "42nd Street", performing the role for 488 performances. He also performed in and created the arrangements for "The Best Is Yet To Come - The Music of Cy Coleman". Vienna to Weimar brings together two of New York's favourite cabaret artists, KT Sullivan and Karen Kohler, in a provocative blend of voices and feminine sensibilities. Journey with them from 1870s Vienna and the operetta of Strauss and Lehar to 1930s Berlin and the cabaret music of Hollaender, Weill, Brecht, Spoliansky and more. These two award-winning interpreters of the Great American and European songbooks prove that love, lust, power and illusion are as timeless today as they were nearly 100 years ago.

In 2012 the show was nominated for two BroadwayWorld Cabaret Awards in the categories of Best Cabaret Show Revue and Best Duo/Group.

KT Sullivan is one of America's top cabaret performers and her shimmering soprano voice and interpretive skills make her one of the hardest working and most in demand singers in cabaret, often performing at the major jazz and cabaret rooms of the world.

Born in Germany, raised in New York and a Texan for 15 years, the iconoclastic Karen Kohler has won all three major New York cabaret awards- Nightlife, MAC and twice the Backstage Bistro - and has performed in cabarets, concert halls, consulates in many countries.

KT Sullivan returns to The Crazy Coqs after her sell-out performances last year, with another successful show.

In Rhyme, Women and Song, all the songs are written in whole or in part by women. Sullivan takes her audience on an encompassing journey through the wisdom and ingenuity of lady poets with a dazzling array of 29 songs including those by Dorothy Fields, Carolyn Leigh, Kay Swift, Betty Comden, Dorothy Parker, Marilyn Bergman, Carol King and Joni Mitchell, changing in style and mood from song to song. Sullivan doesn't disguise the connections between romantic aspiration and material calculation as in her medley of songs about women's determined upward mobility.

KT Sullivan is one of America's top cabaret performers and her shimmering soprano voice and interpretive skills make her one of the hardest working and most in demand singers in cabaret, often performing at the major jazz and cabaret rooms in New York.

Liza Minnelli presented KT with the Manhattan Association of Cabaret's Outstanding Female Vocalist Award. She has also received the Mabel Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Mabel Mercer Foundation and last year became their Artistic Director.

Every Thursday from 10.30pm till midnight, Harold Sanditen hosts an open mic evening, which includes regular musicians Michael Roulston on piano and Jonty Fisher on bass. The open mic provides a nurturing environment for composers, musicians and singers to test new work in front of an audience, as well as a great evening of entertainment for audiences, who will have the chance to catch that proverbial 'rising star' or see an existing star, in what is arguably the most beautiful new music room in town.
