Byron St. Cyr to Swing Back to Don't Tell Mama with 4600 MITHRA: MY NEW ORLEANS
![]()
Byron St. Cyr returns to Don't Tell Mama with another visit to 4600 Mithra: My New Orleans on Sunday, September 24th at 7pm.
This swinging night of jazz was debuted in March, and he's back with his trio and some new and old standards that remind him of home. He will be joined by his musical director Drew Wutke; with direction by Jim Brigman once again.
Being a child of New Orleans, music has always been a part of Byron's everyday life. After years of playing jazz saxophone he made the leap into musical theatre and discovered another side of his voice while studying at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. During that time he began digging into classical voice, reveling in the worlds of Verdi and Puccini. Soon after graduating he began his theatrical career touring the country in Miss Saigon and My Fair Lady, and in regional productions including but not limited to Beauty and the Beast, and Ragtime. He's been lucky to share the stage with legends such as Melba Moore, Stephanie Mills, and Chita Rivera. After taking a break from the stage, his immense love for music brought him to The Duplex in his cabaret stage debut as creator and performer in Byron St Cyr: Old French Whore, and his follow up Back on Corner. He also had the privilege of dancing for the New York Theatre Dance Ensemble, and was a featured dancer in Homage by the ALMA NYC company.
4600 Mithra: My New Orleans includes standards by Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen, George and Ira Gershwin, and others outside the traditional American Songbook cannon.
