Ars Nova (Jason Eagan, Artistic Director; Jon Steingart and Jenny Wiener Steingart, Executive Producers) announced today that due to overwhelming demand, the deadline for submissions to A.N.T. FEST 08 has been extended to Monday, June 23.

As previously announced, A.N.T FEST is a six-week festival of craziness showcasing fresh material from today's most daring emerging artists. Ars Nova is on the prowl for talented performers from all disciplines who see the future of live entertainment and want the chance to show off their skills. We're interested in edgy, offbeat, charged performances that tell a story, make us laugh, showcase musicians with a vibrant new sound, or blur the boundaries between theater, music and comedy.

Singer/songwriters, bands, comedy artists, storytellers and genre-defying performers of all kinds are encouraged to apply. The best thirty submissions will be given a night to perform on the Ars Nova stage, and will be a part of artist-driven parties and events throughout the festival.

Interested performers should submit a description of their evening (one page max); and may also include a script, CD, DVD or directions to online material if available.  Application forms are available on at www.arsnovanyc.com.

Applications must be postmarked by Monday, June 23. Artists chosen for the festival will be notified by late summer.  A.N.T FEST 08 will take place October 16 –November 24, 2008.

As New York's premiere hub for emerging artists and new work, Ars Nova is committed to developing and producing eclectic theatre, comedy and music to feed today's popular culture.  To that end, Ars Nova strives to create daring collaborations, meld disciplines and give voice to a new generation of artists.  Past productions include Boom, Dixie's Tupperware Party, At Least It's Pink, 25 Questions for a Jewish Mother, Holy Cross Sucks!, Freestyle Love Supreme and The Wau Wau Sisters.  In addition to its featured productions, Ars Nova supports and develops new work from the most promising emerging artists through its alternative comedy series (Tragedy Tomorrow), music series (Uncharted), public play-reading series (Out Loud), writer's group (Play Group) and artist-in-residence program.  Ars Nova was founded in memory of Gabe Wiener.  For more information, visit www.arsnovanyc.com.
