MAKE OR BREAK: THE LINDA PERRY PROJECT

Make or Break: The Linda Perry Project small logo
Millions of people watch shows like "American Idol" and "The Voice" and think they know how the music industry works. But discovering talent is only a fraction of the work. The real challenge is taking that talent and molding it into something special. Linda Perry has spent the last decade doing just that. She has written some of the biggest hits for some of the biggest artists of the last ten years. As a songwriter and producer she has guided the careers of many of today's hottest artists including Christina Aguilera, Pink, Linda Perry got her start as the lead singer and songwriter of the nineties rock band 4 Non Blondes. But she quickly realized that her true talent and passion was in the studio, helping young artists reach their full potential. Now, for the first time ever, she is opening the doors of her hallowed Hollywood studio to a talented group of young artists. They will be tested like never before not only in the studio, but out in the real world under pressure and on stage in some of Hollywood's hottest music venues. Her goal is to find the next big thing, and in the end she will choose one or more artists to sign to her record label. The artists Linda has chosen are the result of an exhaustive nationwide search and they are some of the best unsigned artist's in the country, covering almost every genre of music from Rock to Urban and everything in between. Over the course of three weeks, Linda will transform these amazing musicians with a variety of unique exercises. They will perform in front of a live audience with little time to prepare, on the streets of Hollywood busking for spare change, and before some of the industries toughest celebrity critics. But the most powerful and intense work will come from Linda herself. Linda didn't become a success by pulling punches and she has no patience for mediocrity. Once she feels that an artist doesn't have what it takes to be on her label, she'll cut them loose so she can focus her attention on the artists with more talent and potential. Despite her harsh words and sharp wit, Linda is always honest and fair and the artists that work hard and are courageous enough to let their talent shine through will have a winning chance. But those that allow their egos to get in the way will inevitably have their dreams crushed and their hearts broken as they are sent back home. At the end of the day, Linda is looking for that one artist or band that will bring success to her label, and amazing music to the masses. The stakes couldn't be higher for Linda personally; she's putting her own reputation and money on the line, literally risking it all in hopes of finding that needle in a haystack and transforming them into a star.
