Below, watch the first clip from the Miles Davis biopic, MILES AHEAD, can be viewed now. The film is set to premiere this weekend at the New York Film Festival.

In the scene, Davis and Gil Evans (Jeffrey Grover) refine their big band arrangement of the Gerwin classic, PORGY & BESS. Don Cheadle not only crowdfunded the film himself, but he also takes on the role of Davis. In the clip, Cheadle's Davis voice and trumpet playing are showcased, which Cheadle learned to play specifically for the role.

The movie follows a five year period in Davis' life in which he withdrew from music and struggled through a relationship with first wife Frances Taylor Davis.
