TONIGHT SHOW Takes The Week Of 12/31-1/4 In 18-49

Encore telecasts of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" have dominated the late-night ratings week of Dec. 31-Jan. 4 versus rebroadcasts of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in adults 18-49 and won the week in every other key demographic, according to "live plus same day" figures from Nielsen Media Research.

It's the top-scoring "Tonight Show" encore week of the past year in 18-49 (with a 0.55 rating) and total viewers (2.242 million), best since the week of Jan. 1-5, 2018 (0.60 in 18-49, 2.327 million viewers). Note that averages exclude last week's Tuesday telecasts, as well as CBS' Monday programs, which were coded as specials

The strong "Tonight Show" week was paced by Monday's rebroadcast (1.03 in 18-49), which aired at 12:30 a.m. following NBC's live New Year's Eve coverage. That 1.03 made it "Tonight's highest-rated repeat since Dec. 31, 2015 (1.33), when the show also followed New Year's Eve programming.

In "most current" Nielsens for the season to date, "Tonight" leads Colbert and Kimmel in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, adults 18-34, men 18-34 and all key adult-female demographics.

Last week at 12:35 a.m. ET, encores of "Late Night with Seth Meyers" ranked #1 versus rebroadcasts of "The Late Late Show with James Corden" in every key ratings category - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers.

Meyers leads both "Late Late Show" and ABC's "Nightline" in "most current" season-to-date averages in every key ratings category.
