Savion Glover Is ALL FuNK'D UP At The McCallum

The McCallum Theatre presents Tony Award-winning choreographer and tap dancer Savion Glover in "ALL FuNKD' UP In Concert" on Saturday, March 30, at 8:00pm. This new thrilling show will highlight tap dance superstar Savion Glover's mesmerizing interplay of percussive genius as he and his six-piece band and a company of dancers illuminate original grooves and compositions as only a percussive master could. "ALL FuNKD' UP In Concert" marks Savion Glover's newest innovative expression that continues to procure tap as sound and sound to music. Glover dances to an eclectic soundtrack that includes new age to John Coltrane, in a tribute to his personal experiences with dance greats and the forefathers of tap.

Tony Award-winner, tap dancer, choreographer, and producer, Savion Glover is celebrating his 35th year in show business. Broadway and film credits include The Tap Dance Kid, Black & Blue, Jelly's Last Jam, Bring in 'da Noise Bring in 'da Funk, the movie Tap with Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis, Jr., Spike Lee' Bamboozled, and the Academy Award winning 2006 Warner Brothers releases of Happy Feet and Happy Feet 2, both choreographed by Savion.

Recognized for his award-winning choreography in the acclaimed Broadway musical Shuffle Along, Mr. Glover continues to focus on bringing attention to the art form of tap dance as an instrumental component as well as maintaining a highly entertaining visual. He enjoys dancing on concert stages throughout the world with legendary jazz musicians, including Jack DeJohnette, Roy Haynes and McCoy Tyner. Savion with presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at McCallum Theatre's Choreography Festival in 2017.

In his hometown of Newark, Savion holds the honor of being on the Board of Directors at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) where he also serves as Dance Ambassador. Also in Newark, Savion established The HooFeRzCLuB School for Tap, and Savion Glover Productions which highlights the tradition of tap dancing and sound and serves as a team-based organization to provide quality production and project management services for tap dancers.
