On Wednesday, July 28th NewFilmmakers welcomes back the Digital Film Academy as part of our continuing Film School Screening Series.
The NewFilmmakers NY Series screens at Anthology Film Archives on the Lower East Side at 32 Second Avenue & 2nd Street. NewFilmmakers LA screens in the Stanley Kramer Theater @ Anthology at the Sunset Gower Studio. Many features screened at NewFilmmakers are now available on NewFilmmakers Online.

Lucy Martens VOICES FROM INSIDE - ISRAELIS SPEAK (2008, 65 Minutes, Video)
Voices From Inside is a documentary, based upon interviews with 16 Jewish Israeli voices of conscience. Each representing a different facet within the peace movement there, the film traces Zionism from its beginnings to the reality that exists today, with brutal honesty. Through their eyes and perspectives, it is a film about personal development, the evolution of consciousness within each mind, moving from a perspective of nationalist myths to a revelation regarding moral choices for their society - a society that is permeated and defined by militarism and denial.

Digital Film Academy, the premier digital film and media academy in New York, presents an evening of short films from students in the Digital Filmmaking programs and workshops. Students wrote, produced, directed, and edited their individual short films within their course work.

A Choice of Weapons follows the story of San Francisco youth as they discover the threats of eviction, toxic waste, and redevelopment facing their Bayview Hunter's Point community. A predominantly low-income area in the southeastern part of San Francisco, Bayview Hunter's Point is one of the city's last remaining African American neighborhoods and is currently undergoing major redevelopment.
