The multi-sellout Fringe phenomenon is back again with their biggest and most outrageous show to date, taking to the McEwan Hall stage for the first time. This year Magnificent Bastard Productions tackle the Bard's longest play and the most popular during his lifetime, to present their own raucous, rowdy and riotous rendition of Hamlet. Having already sold over 250,000 tickets worldwide, the award-winning group is back once more to help you 'enjoy Shakespeare responsibly'.

So how does it work? Each performance has a cast of six actors, who all arrive four hours before the start of the show for a 'party' - however this party is dry for all but one performer, who gets Shit-faced. The rest is a balancing act between the (trimmed down to an hour) Shakespeare script and the sober team of improvisers frantically struggling to keep the story on the rails. Every single show is a one-off. Every single performance has a different drunk actor/sober cast combination. Every single time they are genuinely inebriated.

Formed in 2010 by a group of East15 graduates (largely), Magnificent Bastard Productions are rather splendid bunch of actors, performers, writers, producers, artists and - most importantly - friends, some of who have been making theatre together for over 16 years. Shit-faced now performs across the UK, Australia and USA in Boston, Atlanta and Austin. They sell-out at the Edinburgh and Brighton Fringes annually, and in 2015 expanded into Shit-faced Showtime, a pissed-up hour of harmonious Broadway showtunes.

Director Rev. Lewis Ironside said "With a team of the most highly skilled actor/improvisers, a meticulously constructed production standard, endless rehearsals and a clear artistic vision Shit-faced Shakespeare just wouldn't be the same".

Magnificent Bastard are a UK and America-based theatre company comprised of actors, writers, producers and friends, whose ethos is grounded in staging fun and frivolous adaptations of Shakespeare's greatest works, always with a Shit-faced twist. Since 2010, Magnificent Bastard have been bringing their versions of Shakespeare's greatest works to audiences in Austin, Edinburgh, Boston, all over Australia, Brighton, Atlanta and London. They have enjoyed successive sellout runs at both the Edinburgh and Brighton Fringe. Lewis Ironside is the company director and adapting author of Magnificent Bastard Productions, and a professional director, writer and actor whose plays have been performed across the UK and America.

Since launching Shit-faced Shakespeare, Magnificent Bastard Productions have also founded Shit-faced Showtime, their inebriated musical show. Shit-faced Showtime will be performing Oliver With a Twist at Underbelly, Cow Barn 1st - 27th August.
