According to Deadline.com, Lifetime network is currently working on a remake of the classic film 'Blue Lagoon'. The project will be produced by Neil Meron and Graig Zadan's Storyline Entertainment as well as Judith Verno's Peace Out Prods in association with Sony Pictures TV.  The film was originally planned for the cable network in 2004 with a script by Heather Rutman and Matt Heller.

Released in 1980, the romantic film marked the big screen debut of actress Brooke Shields, and told the tale of a young girl and boy who found themselves shipwrecked on a deserted island.  The innocent couple is forced to learn how to survive and in the process, fall in love with each other. The movie was based on a novel by Henry De Vere Stacpoole and first appeared on the big screen in Britain in 1949 with actress Jean Simmons as its young star. The 1991 sequel 'Return To The Blue Lagoon' featured a young Milla Jovovich.

Casting has reportedly begun for the upcoming film, which is set to begin shooting in February of 2012 in Puerto Rico.
