Variety is reporting that ABC has given Kelsey Grammer a pilot commitment for a half-hour, sitcom that will feature Grammer as a corporate tycoon who reconnects with his family after being downsized out of his powerful job.

"Everybody Loves Raymond" scribe Tucker Cawley is penning the pilot, which will come from Tom Werner's Good Humor TV and Warner Bros. TV reports Variety. Grammer, Cawley, Werner and Good Humor's Mike Clements are Executive Producers of the project.

ABC passed on Grammer's last comedy in development at the network a number of months ago, that was an American adaptation of the British sitcom "Roman's Empire."

Grammer most recently starred in Fox's "Back to You" -- alongside Patricia Heaton, who has her own comedy pilot at ABC, "The Middle" (also from Warner Bros.) states the entertainment daily.

Kelsey Grammer has been creativily busy since ending his hit "Frasier" with recent credits including the features "An American Carol" and "Swing Vote." He's also been cast in the upcoming remake of "Fame." He was last seen on Broadway in Macbeth. His other theatre credits include, Othello and Sweeney Tood.
