The show takes viewers around the world and off the map for thrilling investigations into history's most iconic legends. From Amelia Earhart to lost Incan cities, Gates travels to some of the most remote corners of the planet in immersive, hilarious, and nail-biting journeys of discovery. The series blends his unique brand of humor with a passion for exploration.

For five years, Josh also helmed and co-executive produced the hit Syfy Channel series, Destination Truth. Each week, Gates and his intrepid team set out to investigate age-old mysteries, recent cryptozoological sightings, and paranormal reports. The groundbreaking series is regarded as one of the most globe-spanning shows on television, touching down in nearly twenty countries each season (Take That, Amazing Race). The show features remote and often never-before-filmed locations, from the distant mountains of Bhutan to the cannibal jungles of Papua New Guinea. Also, he eats very gross things and changes a lot of flat tires. Usually while swearing.

Other expeditions include the first ever overnight filming in the infamous tomb of King Tut as well as the sprawling temple of Angkor Wat. The team also made headlines by spending an entire night in the shadow of the world's worst nuclear accident at Chernobyl - Arguably not Josh's best idea. A mysterious "Yeti" footprint recovered by Josh in the Himalayas is now on display at the Expedition Everest attraction at Walt Disney's Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida.

An avid scuba diver and photographer, Josh has participated in sub-sea archaeological excavations in the Mediterranean, and his wanderlust has taken him from sweltering African deserts to the icy shores of Antarctica. To date, he has set foot in more than ninety countries, has scaled "the roof of Africa" on Mt. Kilimanjaro, and climbed Aconcagua, the tallest mountain in the Americas. Josh holds degrees from Tufts University in Archaeology and Drama and is a fellow of The Explorers Club, a prestigious organization dedicated to the advancement of exploration and field research. Also, they have stuffed polar bears and a lot of scotch.

For five years, Josh also served as the host of the immensely popular Ghost Hunters Live, in which he attempts to not freeze to death while broadcasting for six hours straight in the freezing cold. In 2011, the Halloween special made Syfy the #1 rated cable network in primetime (and made Josh the #1 human popsicle in primetime). In 2010, Josh hosted the live 100th episode of Ghost Hunters from the historic stage of Studio 8H in Rockefeller Center. He has also appeared on The Today Show, CNN, and a variety of other national television and radio programs.

More of Josh's travels are chronicled in his bestselling book, "Memoirs of a Monster Hunter," which was published by Simon and Schuster in 2011.
Josh currently resides in Los Angeles and on airport floors around the world.
