Josh Gad Lands Guest Spot on FOX Comedy NEW GIRL

While NEW GIRL star Zooey Deschanel is headed from the small screen to Broadway in the upcoming production of COAL MINER'S DAUGHTER, a Broadway vet has reportedly landed a guest spot on NEW GIRL.

Josh Gad, who's appeared on Broadway in THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE and received a 2011 Tony nomination for his role in THE BOOK OF MORMON, will appear on the September 25 season premiere playing "Bearclaw, a beer delivery man at Nick's bar who tries to woo Jess," according to the Hollywood Reporter

David WaltonNiecy Nash and Leslie Mann have also signed on for second season guest spots on the FOX comedy.

In addition to Deschanel, the regular cast of the NEW GIRL features Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris and Hannah Simone. NEW GIRL returns for its sophomore season Tuesdays this fall, with all-new misadventures for Jess (Deschanel), Nick (Johnson), Schmidt (Greenfield), Winston (Morris) and Cece (Simone). The hit ensemble comedy recently received four nominations from the Critics’ Choice Television Awards and already has garnered Golden Globe nominations for Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical, and Best Actress – Comedy or Musical, as well as a Writers Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Television.

NEW GIRL is produced by Chernin Entertainment in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The series is created and written by Elizabeth Meriwether (“No Strings Attached”). Meriwether, Jake Kasdan (“Bad Teacher”), Peter Chernin (TOUCH) and Katherine Pope (TOUCH).

Gad departed THE BOOK OF MORMON on June 6 to work on his pilot, 1600 PENN, which will debut on NBC.
