Javier Bardem in Talks to Play Blackbeard in PAN?

Deadline reports that Warner Bros. has offered Javier Bardem the role of 'Blackbeard' - the villain in its upcoming movie PAN from a script by Jason Fuchs, based on J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan tale. Joe Wright is in talks to direct.

PAN follows an orphan into Neverland, where he saves the natives and starts an uprising against the pirates, who are led by Blackbeard.

The film is being produced by Greg Berlanti under Berlanti Productions.

Bardem is no stranger to portraying villains - he won an Oscar for his role as 'Anton Chigurh' in No Country For Old Men and recently starred as 'Silva' in the Bond movie Skyfall.

He is currently on the big screen in The Counselor, and his upcoming projects include The Gunman and A Most Violent Year. Past credits include To the Wonder, Eat Pray Love, Biutiful, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Love in the Time of Cholera and more.
