Last week, fans of Broadway's Hamilton were overjoyed to learn the news that the hit Broadway musical would be performing at this year's GRAMMY AWARDS.

Hamilton creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda shared his excitement over the news in an interview last week, revealing "We're going to do the opening number, SCREAM with joy, and then celebrate the fact that we were just on the Grammys." Many took the comment to mean that the talented cast would be the opening performance at Monday night's live broadcast. In addition, rumors became rampant that since Monday night is dark at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, home of Hamilton, the cast would put on a special full performance of the show that evening beginning at 8 pm/ET, to be beamed in live for the opening of the music awards in L.A.

Lin-Manuel immediately took to Twitter on February 3rd to clarify that the "opening number" he was referring to in the interview was Hamilton's opening number, the song "Alexander Hamilton" and not the Grammy broadcast opening number:

Despite that, fans were in a tizzy when it was announced on Sunday that Taylor Swift, nominated for seven Grammys this year, would be the telecast's opening act. Commented Showbiz411's Roger Friedman, "They can't both be opening the show. Who will win this tug of war? 'Hamilton' starts at 8. Are they going to hang around and not start their show ...until THE GRAMMYS are ready?"

The New York Post got to the bottom of the confusion when a Grammy rep told Page Six that the plan was never to have the hip-hop musical open the show. Instead, the talented cast will make an appearance during the telecast.

A rep for Hamilton also confirmed that there will not be a special Monday night performance of the show, but the cast will perform the opening song before a live audience in the theater. "There's been confusion. It's been misconstrued," the rep said.

Well one way or another, we'll all get a chance to see the number live, performed in the room where it happens!
