GAME OF THRONES' Emilia Clarke has officially landed the iconic role of 'Sarah Conner' in the upcoming TERMINATOR reboot, according to Deadline.

Not many details are known about the film, though Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to reprise his role as a Terminator assigned to protect the young Sarah Connor, and the film will reportedly "involve a trip to the future."

Clarke beat out Brie Larson for the role.

James Cameron's original movies starred Linda Hamilton as Connor - the future mother of John Connor, the eventual leader of the human resistance. The franchise began in 1984, with the most recent movie, Terminator Salvation, coming out in 2009.

As previously reported, Jason Clarke is the front runner to take on the role of 'John Conner,' Sarah's son.

The first in a stand-alone trilogy, TERMINATOR will be produced by Megan Ellison of Annapurna and David Ellison of Skydance. Dana Goldberg and Paul Schwake of Skydance will serve as executive producers. Laeta Kalorgridis ("Avatar," "Shutter Island") and Patrick Lussier ("Drive Angry") are attached to write the screenplay. Alan Taylor is on board to helm the film.

This will be the fifth movie in the TERMINATOR series and is set for release July 1, 2015.

Clarke is well known for her portrayal of 'Daenerys Targaryen' in the Game of Thrones TV series and just made her first foray onto the Broadway stage in Breakfast at Tiffany's this year.
