People.com reports that beloved actor Dick Van Dyke was pulled from a burning car yesterday but emerged uninjured. The incident occured Monday afternoon, August 19th on Los Angeles' 101 Freeway.

According to the report, the song and dance man was behind the wheel of the Jaguar which burst into flames. He was rescued by Jason Pennington, a passerby who found the 87-year-old hunched over at the wheel. Photos obtained by TMZ depict the actor's car "burnt to a crisp."

While Van Dyke was slightly disoriented, no further medical treatment was required. He returned to his home accompanied by his wife shortly after the incident.

Holder of five Emmys, a Tony Award and a Grammy, Van Dyke at 87 still possesses the zest for life that first propelled him into the limelight more than a half-century ago with the Broadway and film versions of "Bye Bye Birdie," the seminal '60s situation comedy "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and the film classic "MARY POPPINS" and "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang."
