On December 14, 2012 the lives of the residents of Newtown, Connecticut and the nation were changed forever. Today, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting still stands as the deadliest massacre of children in the U.S. and continues to affect hundreds of lives. "Newtown," will be presented in cinemas across the U.S. on Wednesday, November 2 live at 7:30 p.m. ET/ 6:30 p.m. CT and tape delayed in MT, and PT to 7:30 p.m. local time by Fathom Events and Abramorama. The event gives a realistic view into the effects of this tragedy on the citizens of Newtown and never-before-heard testimonies from educators, parents of victims, law enforcement, clergy and members of the larger community to tell their stories.

Following the feature, audiences will witness a live "Town Hall" panel discussion moderated by CNN anchor Chris Cuomo and featuring Mark Barden, father of victim Daniel; Mary Ann Jacob, surviving educator; Hugo Rojas, father of surviving 1ST grader; Dr. Bill Begg, Danbury Hospital ER Vice Chair. The conversation will engage a dialogue around the issues of gun violence prevention, collective trauma and community response.

Tickets for "Newtown" can be purchased beginning Friday, September 23 online by visiting www.FathomEvents.com or at participating theater box offices. Fans throughout the U.S. will be able to enjoy the event in select movie theaters through Fathom's Digital Broadcast Network. For a complete list of theater locations visit the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).

Filmed over the course of three years, "Newtown" documents a traumatized community fractured by grief, bonded in otherness and driven toward a sense of purpose. Joining the ranks of a growing club, to which no one wants to belong, a cast of characters interconnect to weave an intimate story of community resilience. This event renders a unique perspective on the fallout of gun violence in America on both families and communities.

"We have been privileged to join forces with a number of Newtown survivors to tell an intimate story of community grief and resilience in the years following their unimaginable tragedy that could be the story of any town in America. With this event, we hope to reach beyond failed political discourse and encourage national civic dialogue regarding an issue that is of highest STAKES for us all." Director Kim A. Snyder and Producer Maria Cuomo Cole said. "We are enthusiastic about our partnership with Fathom Events to bring this film and historic event to theaters across the nation."

"This event has a very important message, and not just for those affected directly by this tragedy," Fathom Events Vice President of Programming Kymberli Frueh said. "We wanted to partner with Abramorama to offer a platform and audience where people can come to together, honor the lost and engage in thoughtful dialogue about a difficult reality."

"This story of a community coming together to heal after an unthinkable tragedy is essential viewing and we're thrilled to partner with Fathom to help get it out into the world," stated Richard Abramowitz, President of Abramorama. "Their national reach offers the access that will allow people the opportunity to experience the film in the most productive manner - communally."
