Could comic legend Andy Kaufman have faked his death in 1984 for what would certainly be the biggest hoax in entertainment history? According to a 24-year-old woman who claims to be his daughter, the 'Taxi' star is still alive and well. Check out her announcement in the TMZ video!

According to the Comics Comic, Kaufman's brother Michael appeared at the annual Andy Kaufman Awards at New York City's Gotham Comedy Club this week and revealed the news that his brother is still alive and is the father of a 24-year-old daughter.

The SNL star passed away in 1984 from cancer at the age of 35, but was notorious for pulling long-running hoaxes and elaborate gags throughout his career.

Michael Kaufman claims that he came across his brother's scheme to fake his death in the 1980's. His plan was to resurface on Christmas Eve of 1999 at specific restaurant. On the assigned date, Michael visited the restaurant and was handed a letter from a waiter which said that the comedian had gone into hiding and would not reappear until after their father's death.

The siblings' father passed away this summer at which time Michael received a phone call from the young woman claiming to be Andy's daughter who revealed that Kaufman was still alive and well. Now brother and daughter claim that the comic faked his death in order to escape the spotlight of fame.
