ABC's “GMA” is #1 for Premiere Week

ABC News' "Good Morning America" opened the 2013-14 season as the morning's No. 1 news program in Total Viewers (5.547 million) and Adults 25-54 (2.067 million) for the week of September 23, 2013, according to Nielsen Media Research. Leading week 1 of the season for the 2nd straight year, "GMA" saw its first back-to-back premiere week victory in 21 years in Total Viewers and in more than 2 decades in Adults 25-54 - since the 1991-92/1992-93 seasons and before the 1991-92 season, respectively; Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991. Additionally, GoodMorningAmerica.com on Yahoo! reached 21 million users last month. It is the No. 1 morning news website and beats Today.com by millions of users each month.

"GMA" outdelivered NBC's "Today" (4.752 million and 2.011 million, respectively) by +795,000 Total Viewers and by +56,000 Adults 25-54. In fact, in the last two premiere weeks (+808,000 for w/o 9/24/12), "GMA" has turned in its largest Total Viewer margins over the "Today Show" in more than 21 years - since before the 1991-92 season.

On Monday (9/23/13), "GMA" scored the strongest Adults 25-54 telecast (2.216 million) of any morning newscast in 4 months - since 5/22/13 on "GMA."

For the 3rd year in a row, "GMA" improved on the year-ago premiere week in Total Viewers (+12%) and Adults 25-54 (+7%) - 4.957 million and 1.937 million, respectively, on w/o 9/24/12. In fact, the ABC morning news program saw its most-watched premiere week in more than 22 years and strongest in Adults 25-54 in 7 years - since before the premiere week of the 1991-92 season and the premiere week of the 2006-07 season.

During premiere week, "GMA" nearly doubled the performance of "CBS This Morning" in Total Viewers (+95%), while more than doubling in Adults 25-54 (+112%) and Adults 18-49 (+115%).
