Vacation Fulfillment Invites Travelers to Take a Trip to Tokyo in 2016

By: Dec. 31, 2015

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 31, 2015 /PRNewswire-iReach/ It seems as though it's on the other side of the world, but Vacation Fulfillment knows Tokyo is a must-visit for any traveler. Some places in the city seem frozen in time, rich with the traditions that dictate many local's lives. Featuring temples and gardens that have survived despite centuries of upheaval, it is a stark contrast to the newer parts of the city where change is grand and rapid and nothing ever seems to stand still. Here are some of the most popular places in Tokyo to visit.

Imperial Garden This spacious and relaxed park is Tokyo's most central and most often overlooked oasis. It began as part of the grounds for the Edo Castle, it was then claimed for the Imperial Family after the 1868 Meiji Restoration. At the entrance to the park, visitors will see the National Police Agency dojo and the Ote Rest House. Next door is the Museum of the Imperial Collection, featuring rotating collections from Imperial families. This Garden Park is a great place to relax and enjoy a picnic lunch while people watching.

National Museum With over 87,000 objects in its permanent collection and four buildings, the Tokyo National Museum is one of the largest collections of East Asian art and archaeology. The Western-style building, the Hyokeikan, has bronze cupolas and was built in 1909 and was devoted to archeological exhibits. It is closed today however, except for special exhibits. The larger building behind it, the Heiseikan, was built to celebrate the wedding of Crown Prince Naruhito in 1993 and now houses the Japanese archeological exhibits. The central building was constructed in 1937 and houses Japanese art exclusively while the fourth building hosts the scrolls, masks, and sculptures from the Imperial households.

Meiji Shrine Honoring the Emperor Meiji, this shrine commemorates the role he played in ending the Japanese isolation and starting the country on the road to modernization. Vacation Fulfillment notes that after it was almost completely destroyed in 1945 during an air raid, the shrine was rebuilt in 1958. The entrance gates stand 40 feet high and are made of cypress trees. The buildings in the shrine complex are also made of cypress wood, and the surrounding gardens have over 100,000 flowering trees and shrubs. An annual festival takes place here on November 3 rd, the Emperor's birthday.

There is so much to see in Tokyo, and the rest of Japan is close by as well. Consider this for your next international vacation spot and see history and culture come alive.
