8-foot-tall Gingerbread Arch Debuts at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis
The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis has welcomed in the holiday season with a distinctly St. Louis flavor - an 8 foot-tall gingerbread replica of the Gateway Arch.
The gingerbread Gateway Arch, which is built to scale, is located in the lobby of the Clayton, Mo. luxury hotel and overlooks a gingerbread version of Santa Claus' enchanted wintry North Pole village. The real 630-foot-tall Gateway Arch overlooks the Mississippi River in downtown St. Louis.<
The Arch required meticulous planning plus 60 pounds of gingerbread, and the entire display took over 120 hours to create.
The Ritz-Carlton, The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis Executive Pastry Chef Nathaniel Reid - named one of the "Top 10 Pastry Chefs in America" by Dessert Professional magazine in 2012 - also has created a special line of chocolate bars, jams and other goodies for sale this holiday season. The hotel is donating a portion of the proceeds to the local Ronald McDonald House Charities.
