Wharton Center to Welcome Gordon Lightfoot in 50 YEARS ON THE CAREFREE HIGHWAY, 6/19

Canadian folk legend and multi-platinum recording artist Gordon Lightfoot is thrilled to continue his decade-spanning relationship with Wharton Center on his upcoming tour, GORDON LIGHTFOOT: 5O YEARS ON THE CAREFREE HIGHWAY. His newest tour, peppered with old favorites and classic hits, will look beyond the stoic grace he has come to be known by and delve into the man behind the universal success. The tour stops at Wharton Center for one night only Thursday, June 19 at 8:00pm. Tickets, $35-$65, go on sale Friday, March 21st at 10:00am and will be available online at whartoncenter.com, at the Auto-Owners Insurance Ticket Office at Wharton Center, or by calling 1-800-WHARTON.

Since gracing the Wharton Center stage in his highly successful 2008 tour, Gordon Lightfoot has been busy cultivating his career with his induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Most known for his poetic yet down-to-earth style, Gordon Lightfoot has led a musical career to marvel. From his Top Ten single, "If You Could Read My Mind," to his influential work in world hunger and the environment - not to mention sixteen Juno Awards and five Grammy Award nominations - Gordon Lightfoot has become a mainstay of folk and country music the world over.

In this celebration of over 50 years of continued success, Gordon Lightfoot shares personal anecdotes and behind-the-scenes stories on how he became one of Canada's most popular folk artists. Die-hard fans and interested listeners alike will be spellbound by the talent and grace of Gordon Lightfoot's lyrical intellect and musical scope. His hits, such as the modern-day narrative, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" and the folk staple, "Sundown," are testament to the intense breadth and impact that Gordon Lightfoot has had within the music industry.
