With over 100 historical references, Billy Joel's 1989 classic tune "We Didn't Start the Fire" is considered by many to be a musical lesson in modern American history. Yet according to one Joel fan, the video which was made to go along with the song fell short in historical accuracy. As a result, they set out to make an updated version titled "Historically Accurate Almanac". Check out both versions below!

The lyrics to "We Didn't Start the Fire" include brief, rapid-fire allusions to more than 100 headline events between 1949, the year of Joel's birth, and 1989, when the song was released on his album Storm Front.

The tune was nominated for the Grammy Award for Record of the Year. The song was also a No. 1 hit in the US.
