The Vermont Mozart Festival Returns to Middlebury with an Evening of Chopin, 7/20

By:

Now in its 37th season, the Vermont Mozart Festival has found a home-away-from-home at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater, the perfect intimate spot for an evening of classical music. This year's concert features pianist Jean-Claude Pennetier in a program of solo piano works by Chopin, titled Fryderyk's Polonaises. The concert begins at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, July 20.

Jean-Claude Pennetier has been playing piano at a high level at the age of 6, when he enrolled at the Conservatoire National Supérior de Paris. By age 10 he had won major prizes in piano and chamber music, and he has continued on to a career of international acclaim.

Pennetier will play four of Chopin's famous polonaise pieces, plus the Barcarolle in F-sharp major, and will end the evening with Piano Sonata No. 3 in B minor.

As with all Vermont Mozart Festival events, everyone is encouraged to enjoy the outdoors and picnic before the performance. Middlebury's town green is an ideal place to spread a blanket and enjoy a pre-Chopin meal.

Tickets for the July 20 event may be purchased at www.vtmozart.org, and at the door, if available. $31/$15 youth.
