The Suzan Announce 'Konichiwa' EP Out 1/19

Japanese sister duo The Suzan are excited to announce their new EP - Konichiwa - due out January 19th via Swedish music collective INGRID. Translated to "Good Afternoon," the title is fitting for a band that has recently been reintroducing themselves to the world. The 3-track studio-recording follows closely on the heels of this year's indie-pop anthem "Jungle Beat" and the vibrant Doki Doki Sounds EP - the band's first US release in over 4 years - and finds sisters Rie and Saori teaming up again with long-time producer and collaborator Bjorn Yttling (Peter Bjorn and John, Chrissie Hynde, Primal Scream, Lykke Li).

Yttling's relationship with The Suzan was first sparked in 2008; discovering the band on Myspace following the release of their debut LP Suzan Galaxy in 2007. He went on to produce the band's sophomore album Golden Week For The Poco Poco Beat, which was released in 2010 via Brooklyn, NY's Fool's Gold Records (Kid Cudi, A-Trak, Chromeo). Shortly thereafter, The Suzan fearlessly relocated halfway across the world to New York City for four years, growing a dedicated American fanbase and positioning themselves for national tours with the likes of Peter Bjorn and John, Titus Andronicus, Datarock, and Zambri.

Continuing to push themselves creatively and professionally, Rie and Saori moved back to Japan in 2015 to launch their own record label - Poco Poco Beat - and released their limited-edition Japanese mini-album Draw Your Dream. Earlier this year, The Suzan returned to the US to celebrate the release of the Doki Doki Sounds EP with two special New York City shows. "Live, they're a joy, turning any room into a candy-colored disco ball-dotted wonderland" commented The Village Voice, a sentiment that has been shared by the likes of The FADER, Pitchfork, SPIN, WNYC and more throughout the band's career. Along with the band's fun and vivid aesthetic, She Shreds recently applauded their ability to create "lush, atmospheric dream-pop" while premiering Doki Doki Sounds in July.

The Suzan's forthcoming studio EP Konichiwa is out on January 19th via INGRID and will be available via all DSPs. The band will be celebrating the release in Tokyo on January 27th with a special release party. For up-to-date information, please stay tuned to www.ingrd.com.
