97.3 KBCO and Z2 Entertainment will present The Subdudes with original line-up at the Boulder Theater on Saturday, March 22nd, 2014. Tickets will go on sale to the public on Friday, January 17th at 10:00 am for $30 general admission.

Tommy Malone, John Magnie, Steve Amedee and Johnny Ray Allen -- the original lineup of The Subdudes -- are going on the road for the first time in 17 years. Tim Cook, who played and sang with the band from 2002 until the group went on hiatus, shared the news and is helping set up the shows. Tickets will be on sale for the two shows currently scheduled: March 21, 2014, at Herman's Hideaway, where the band first developed a rabid following in the late '80s in Denver, and March 22 at Boulder Theater in nearby Boulder, Colorado.

Although he and Jimmy Messa will not be joining the band for these shows, Cook said he couldn't be happier to see the original quartet patching up their differences and hitting the road. He says to look for additional dates for the original lineup in Chicago and New York later this year. The band could possibly play Fort Collins, Colorado, this summer and New Orleans in the fall. San Francisco is another likely candidate. Only the Colorado dates are firm.

Johnny Ray Allen, the band's original bass player who wrote or co-wrote many of their early songs, will be on hand for the shows this year. Allen, a successful businessman in New Orleans, hasn't toured with The Subdudes in 17 years and largely had abandoned the music business. Over the years he occasionally joined the band on stage in New Orleans and recently revived a songwriting partnership with Malone. The terminal illness of a mutual friend brought him and the other guys back together, leading to the reconciliation.

Meanwhile, Malone is continuing his solo tour, promoting his "Natural Born Days" CD and beginning work on a follow-up CD. Magnie and Amedee have recently started a new band in the Fort Collins area with fellow songwriter Cary Morin, calling themselves the Young Ancients. Cook, meanwhile, has also been writing songs and working on a duo project with Rob Solomon with a CD promised. Messa plays with a number of bands around New Orleans, including the The Hangovers,The Paper Steamboat, The Round Pegs and bluesman Big Daddy O (Owen).
