The Little Orchestra Society kicks off its 2011-2012 season with the first concert of its popular Lolli-PopsTM series, for children ages 3-5. Kids always love to visit their friends - Bang the Lion, Buzz the Bee, Toot the Bird and Bow the Panda - as they listen, learn and laugh out loud with the orchestra. On Saturday, October 22, 2011, at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and Sunday, October 23, 2011, at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., The LOS presents a new production entitled Who's Got the Beat?.

The orchestra has the beat, but can you find it? In this brand new program, children learn how music moves. Under the direction and choreography of Annette Jolles, guest conductor Jeffrey Grogan leads the orchestra in the famous "Habañera" from Bizet's Carmen and Dvo?ák's Slavonic Dance No. 8, and ends with music celebrating the beat and pulse of New York City.

Joanne Bernstein-Cohen, Executive Director of The LOS, stated: "This opening program of the 25th Anniversary Season of Lolli-PopsTM concerts will combine all that our audiences have come to know and love, with a celebration of New York City and the rhythms and beats all around us. Director Annette Jolles is working with conductor Jeffrey Grogan to fashion this lively program full of great music and surprises."

"I am thrilled to conduct Who's Got the Beat? with The Little Orchestra Society this season!" said guest conductor Jeffrey Grogan. "We will explore how the beat makes music move, interesting places you can find it, and how it lives inside all of us. I know our audiences will enjoy this fast paced, high energy show presented by one of the most notable ‘kid-friendly' orchestras in the country."

Performances are at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (68th Street, between Park and Lexington Avenues). Single Tickets $15 (rear balcony/rear orchestra) and $40 (prime seating); 5-Concert Subscriptions $75 (rear balcony/rear orchestra) and $150 (prime seating); 3-Concert Series $45 (rear balcony/rear orchestra) and $99 (prime seating); available by calling 212/971-9500 or at littleorchestra.org.
