THE LION KING'S JD McCrary Signs to Hollywood Records

Hollywood Records have signed 11-year-old JD McCrary to an exclusive recording deal. McCrary, who is the youngest artist to ever be signed to the label, will play the role of Young Simba in the highly anticipated live action remake of The Lion King, due for release in 2019, alongside Donald Glover and Beyoncé.

"JD is an exceptional talent regardless of age," said Disney Music Group President, Ken Bunt. "We are thrilled to help him share his music with the world."

JD made his primetime debut at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, where he performed the hit song "Terrified" alongside Childish Gambino. Currently, JD plays the role of Kenny on Tyler Perry's OWN series, The Paynes, and will perform a duet alongside the legendary Cyndi Lauper on ABC's broadcast of WE DAY Los Angeles on August 17th.

"It is such a blessing to have accomplished this... age really shouldn't matter anymore," explains JD. "I Just want to continue making music that makes people feel good!"

In addition to numerous commercials and television roles, JD has performed on Little Big Shots and ELLEN and will play the role of "Isaac" in the upcoming feature film Little,opposite Justin Hartley and Issa Rae. Singing, beatboxing and rapping his way into the hearts of America, he has forged his own unique style of music and has already built a rapidly-growing fanbase for himself. JD is represented by Sherry Kayne (The Greenroom Management) and Andrea Nelson Meigs (ICM).
