Louisiana natives Sweet Crude have released their lead single "Isle Dans la Mer" today viaBrooklynVegan. The track comes off of the seven-piece's forthcoming EP Critters, outJune 8. The EP serves as a preview of the band's debut full length Créatures, which is slated for release later this year. Along with the release come a string of tour dates in Canada and New York City featuring a show at Northside Festival with Diarrhea Planet and Acid Dad.

The band's primary lyricist, Sam Craft, tells BrooklynVegan of the track, "'Isle Dans la Mer' (translated: "Isle in the Sea") is, lyrically, a conversation between two people who are looking at the same exact situation with two completely different perspectives. We arranged for simultaneous vocals to be singing two unique sets of lyrics to drive home the fact that the two characters in the story really aren't listening to each other...The lyrics are bittersweet, but we didn't want to write a sad song, so we maximized the "disco in outer space" vibe. After all, we're from New Orleans, where you dance at funerals."

Sweet Crude, boasting surnames like Marceaux, Arceneaux, and Chachere, seeks to reconnect with their lineage in the context of 4-part harmonies, tribal rhythms, and pop hooks. They are set for a breakout 2016 having just been named "Best Rock Band" at the Big Easy Awards and performing on the main stage at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
