Available today is the 10th anniversary deluxe re-issue of Rodrigo y Gabriela, the break-out debut album by the Mexico City guitar virtuosos of the same name. Affectionately known to fans as "the Crocodile album", the original record sold nearly one million copies worldwide and the global success of the album, together with endless touring, established Rod & Gab as one of the most popular acoustic instrumental artists in the world.

The deluxe re-issue will include a two CD one DVD set including the re-mastered album and a previously unreleased concert film live from the Olympia Theatre in Dublin. The vinyl version will be a double album on 180-heavyweight vinyl and will be available June 2nd. All versions can be ordered HERE.

Growing up in Mexico's thrash metal scene and later adapting that influence to other guitar styles, Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero moved to Ireland in 1999. Initially times were hard, and they found themselves broke and busking around the alien environment to make a living. However, after becoming the chosen opener for a slew of busker friend Damien Rice's Irish tour dates, they found themselves with a record deal in 2003 and recorded their debut album with producer John Leckie (Radiohead, My Morning Jacket). It's all part of an ever-growing story totally unimaginable to the young performers only a short time ago.
The album's break out single was "Tamacun", a song about the Mexican crocodile sanctuary owner who handles crocodiles while tourists come from afar to photograph him. His tribute is paid prominently on the album cover with a crocodile's eye and a faint image of Rodrigo and Gabriela superimposed. Listen to "Tamacun" live at Olympia Theatre HERE.
"We are busy at work on our new record, but looking back at this album, it's good to be reminded of how far we've come in ten years," said Rodrigo. "We're looking forward to playing those songs this summer." All of the band's upcoming US tour dates in celebration of the album's 10th anniversary can be found below.
