Producer and Engineer Mike Shipley Passes Away

According to published reports, producer and engineer Mike Shipley has passed away.

Shipley worked on records with the likes of Aerosmith, Def Leppard, the Sex Pistols and more. He received a GRAMMY award for his work on Alison Krauss & Union Station's album "Paper Airplane".

The Recording Academy's President and CEO Neil Portnow released the following statement:

"Three-time GRAMMY winner Mike Shipley was a multitalented producer, engineer and mixer. Throughout his impressive career, he worked with a vast variety of acts across many genres, including Aerosmith, the Black Crowes, Def Leppard, Faith Hill, Enrique Iglesias, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Joni Mitchell, Tom Petty, and Shania Twain. We have lost a beloved industry professional who leaves behind a legacy of enduring work, and our sincerest condolences go out to his family, friends and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him."
