New Shmu Single HOLOLEAPS Premieres at Impose

GTZ Records is pleased to announce that "Hololeaps", the first single from the forthcoming Shmu full length Lead Me To The Glow (out 8.17) has premiered via Impose here!

I think the album is a unique piece," says Sam Chown, Shmu's primary creative force. "This record is a meditation of the last 40 years of music collapsing in on itself. It's post-internet vaporwave aesthetics - utilizing sampling techniques - as a backdrop to honest to God songs."

Thematically, LMTTG begins with a multicolor burst of creativity, segues at midpoint into an exploration the end of our Universe, then transitions into a meditation on rebirth, the afterlife and infinity.

While the last Shmu record Shhh!!!! (late 2015 via GTZ Records - streamed nearly one million times the weekend of its release and lauded by Stereogum as "masterful, inventive... visionary stuff. Unhinged, beautiful rock music") was predominately a solo effort, LMTTG features performances by Chase Dungan on lead guitar, Joel Coronado on bass, Grammy winner Mark 'Speedy' Gonzales (Grupo Fantasma) on trombone, Thomas Van der Brook (Minor Mishap) on saxophone, Derek Phelps (Black Joe Lewis) on trumpet, and guest vocalist Carrie Bickley (Calliope Musicals).
